Columbus left wing Dane Byers
will face a hearing Monday with the NHL's Department of Player Safety concerning an incident in the Blue Jackets' 2-1 loss to San Jose Saturday night.
At 3:01 of the second period, Byers checked Sharks center Andrew Desjardins
as he was carrying the puck out of the San Jose zone. While making the check, Byers' shoulder made contact with Desjardins' head, injuring Desjardins, who did not return to the game.
Byers was assessed a match penalty on the play, as well as a fighting major for an altercation with San Jose's Brad Winchester
that occured as a result of the check.
