ST. PAUL, Minn. -- At the conclusion of practice Tuesday, Vancouver Canucks coach John Tortorella said Henrik Sedin and Alexandre Burrows would not travel for a quick two-games-in-two-nights road trip to Minnesota and Colorado.
What a difference 24 hours makes.
Though nothing changed with Sedin, Burrows not only was on the flight to the Twin Cities, but he will be in the lineup Wednesday when the Canucks play the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center.
"He skated this morning," Tortorella said. "He is in."
Where Burrows slots in, and how healthy he will be is a mystery, but he will be a welcome addition to the lineup. Burrows has eight goals and nine assists in 46 games against the Wild and has five goals and three assists in his past five games overall.
Vancouver is six points back of the Phoenix Coyotes for the second wild-card spot in the Western Conference. It trails Minnesota, the first wild-card team, by nine points.
"The important thing for us is to come into these games with the right type of arrogance," Tortorella said. "I think you've got to try to make a stand and not, see how the game is going to be played, but dictate how it's going to be played."
Minnesota leads Phoenix by three points and the Dallas Stars by six points. The Wild and Stars have played 72 games and have a game in hand on the Coyotes. A win against the Canucks would put their former Northwest Division rivals double-digits behind them in the standings and put a serious dent in their playoff hopes. The Canucks will have eight games remaining after this one.
"I think they're looking at this like it's a game they need," Wild coach Mike Yeo said. "We better be ready to match that desperation tonight."
The Wild will scratch forward Justin Fontaine and insert Cody McCormick onto the right side of the fourth line next to Kyle Brodziak and Matt Cooke.
Goalie Darcy Kuemper will start for the Wild. Vancouver will counter with Eddie Lack.
