MISSISSAUGA, Ont. - Corey Bureau's ninth goal of the season midway through the third period broke a 2-2 tie and lifted the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors to a 3-2 victory over the Barrie Colts Friday night in the Ontario Hockey League.
Bureau beat Barrie goaltender Michael Hutchinson with a 20-foot wrist shot from the slot as the Majors (20-15-1-1) moved four points ahead of the Colts in the Central Division standings.
"It was a big win for us because they're in our division," said Bureau. "I think both teams wanted it and that's why it was such a tight game. We were both a little nervous, but we managed to bounce back."
The Majors trailed the Colts (18-18-1-1) 2-0 late in the second period before mounting their comeback. Zac Rinaldo scored with less than a minute remaining in the second and Jesse Messier tied the game just before the 10-minute mark of the third. Bureau then notched the game winner a little more than two minutes later.
Darren Archibald and Alex Hutchings had the Barrie goals. Archibald's goal was his 14th of the season and Hutchings scored his 19th of the year.
The Majors fired 36 shots at Hutchinson. Mississauga goalie Chris Carrozzi stopped 28 shots.
