20180911 Housley Training Camp Mediawall Roster Release 02

We've spent the past few weeks previewing what's going to be a competitive training camp for the Buffalo Sabres, with veterans and prospects set to battle for open spots at every position.
Now, with players set to report to KeyBank Center for their physicals on Thursday, we know exactly who will be in attendance. The Sabres released their complete training camp roster on Tuesday, a mix of 51 players that will be trimmed to 23 over the next three weeks.

Twenty-nine of those players are forwards, including newly-acquired wingers Conor Sheary and Jeff Skinner. Brian Duff examined how the additions of Sheary and Skinner might impact Buffalo's even-strength scoring, and we also looked at how the duo - along with Tage Thompson, Alex Nylander and others - will fit into a crowded field of players looking to claim spots on the wing.
Competition also exists at center, where Patrik Berglund has been added to a group headlined by young, dynamic playmakers in Jack Eichel and Casey Mittelstadt. Options here also include a veteran holdover in Johan Larsson, versatile wingers in Zemgus Girgensons and Evan Rodrigues, and up-and-comers in Rasmus Asplund and Sean Malone, among others.
We also looked at how Eichel could see his responsibilities increase following a career-best season in 2017-18.

On defense, Rasmus Dahlin joins a group of 16 players seeking a spot on the roster. We broke down the candidates on the backend here, while Duffer wrote about the expectations for Dahlin's rookie season in historical context.
Dahlin and Mittelstadt will certainly demand attention as camp opens, but they're not the only rookies with high expectations. That list is broken down here, and it also includes names like Nylander, Victor Olofsson and Lawrence Pilut.
The group of six goaltenders is headlined by Carter Hutton and Linus Ullmark, who are expected to form a new tandem in the Buffalo net this season. Scott Wedgewood will likely partner with Adam Wilcox for Rochester, which also stands to benefit from an increase in internal competition.
On-ice sessions at Harborcenter are free and open to the public. The schedule for the opening weekend of camp can be found below.
