BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - The Sabres returned five players - including their two top 2007 draft picks - to their respective major junior teams Monday.

Defenceman T.J. Brennan, drafted 31st overall, was returned to St. John's of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, while defenceman Drew Schiestel (59th) was returned to Niagara of the Ontario Hockey League.

Also sent down were: centre Jean-Simon Allard, this year's fifth-round pick (St. John's); centre Paul Byron, this year's sixth-round pick (Gatineau, QMJHL); and centere Benjamin Breault, a 2006 seventh-round pick (Baie-Comeau, QMJHL).

The moves came 10 days after the Sabres opened training camp, and reduce their roster to 36.
