BUFFALO, N.Y. - Defenceman Mike Weber was called up from the minors by the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday to bolster the team's injury-depleted defence.

The Sabres' second-round pick in the 2006 draft, Weber could make his NHL debut Friday when Buffalo plays at Florida. He's had three assists in nine games in his first year with AHL Rochester this season.

The Sabres, in the midst of playing five straight road games, could be down two regular blue-liners after Dmitri Kalinin sprained his knee in a 6-2 loss at Carolina on Wednesday. Jaroslav Spacek's status is uncertain after he missed the past three games with a shoulder injury.
