SEATTLE - Bud Holloway scored two goals and Thomas Hickey had three assists to pace the Seattle Thunderbirds to a 6-2 win over the Kelowna Rockets in Western Hockey League playoff action Thursday.
The win gives Seattle a 3-2 lead in the best-of-seven Western Conference quarter-final. Game 6 is Saturday in Kelowna. The Rockets opened the scoring 22 seconds into the first period when Brady Leavold scored his fourth goal of the playoffs after perfect passes from both Colin Long and Jamie Benn.
Seattle stormed back to take a 3-1 lead in the first period on goals by Jan Eberle, Holloway and David Richard.
The Thunderbirds put the game away with a pair of goals in the second period. Prab Rai scored and Holloway added his second of the game with less than a second remaining in the period.
Luke Schenn scored for Kelowna and Ian McKenzie for Seattle in the third period.
Riku Helenius made 15 saves for Seattle while Kristofer Westblom and Torrie Jung combined for 18 stops for Kelowna.
Game 7, if necessary, will be in Seattle on Tuesday.
