Bryan Rust's goal caps epic first-period sequence for Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins highlighted a dominant first period with a shift for the ages Sunday.

Leading the Ottawa Senators 2-0 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final, the Penguins kept the puck in their offensive zone for 1:26, changing lines twice before Bryan Rust eventually capped the epic shift with a goal at 16:04.

The Penguins' line of Phil Kessel, Evgeni Malkin and Scott Wilson started the onslaught by holding the puck in the Ottawa zone for more than one minute of sustained pressure, earning a line change and a huge ovation from the crowd in Pittsburgh.
Senators defenseman Marc Methot had a chance to clear the puck, but was pressured by Rust and exhausted from defending for so long, saw his pass tipped and redirected to Penguins forward Carter Rowney at the high slot. Rowney's shot was stopped by Ottawa goalie Craig Anderson, but Rust redirected Nick Bonino's try past the Senators goalie.
It was the third of four first-period goals for Pittsburgh, which led to Anderson being pulled twice in 7-0 Penguins win.
