ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -Minnesota left wing Andrew Brunette sat out Saturday night against Detroit because of a lower-body injury, ending the NHL's longest active consecutive games streak at 509.

He last missed a game Dec. 31, 2001, because of a shoulder contusion.

Brunette left Thursday night's game against Calgary in the first period. He didn't practice Friday, but skated with the team Saturday morning before receiving more treatment. The streak nearly ended last month, when he hurt his knee in a Jan. 17 game against Anaheim.

He has 13 goals and 19 assists this season in his return to the Wild. The 13-year veteran, who spent the past three seasons in Colorado after three in Minnesota, has one assist in his last six games.
