BOSTON (AP) - The Boston Bruins are optimistic that their trip to Europe will help them bond for the regular season.

They planned to leave right after Wednesday night's exhibition game against the Washington Capitals in Boston. The Bruins will play two more exhibition games, in Belfast on Saturday and Prague on Tuesday. Then they'll open the regular season in Prague with two games against the Phoenix Coyotes on Oct. 9 and 10.

Last season, the Bruins were eliminated in the Eastern Conference semifinals after winning the first three games of the seven-game series against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Coach Claude Julien said Wednesday that should motivate them to never let it happen again.
