Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid will miss 6-8 weeks with a broken thumb, the team announced Wednesday via its website.

McQuaid sustained the injury Tuesday in a 2-0 win against the St. Louis Blues.

McQuaid has played in all 20 games this season for the Bruins, with one goal, one assist, a plus-2 rating and 19 penalty minutes.

McQuaid played in 30 games in 2013-14 and had his season end because of ankle surgery. He has nine goals and 38 points in 240 games with the Bruins.
