Bruins' Iginla declares himself fit to face Flames

by Matt Kalman

BOSTON -- Officially, Jarome Iginla's streak of consecutive regular-season games played ended last season at 441 when the Calgary Flames had to scratch the forward to keep him injury-free before trading him to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Iginla hadn't missed a game since April 8, 2007, when the Flames rested him.

Unofficially, his iron-man streak is approaching 500 games because that's how many he's played without missing any because of injury. A dislocated finger that forced him out of the first period of the Boston Bruins' loss to the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday should also fail to keep Iginla from playing in a game.

Iginla took part in the morning skate Tuesday at TD Garden and declared he was ready to face the visiting Flames.

"Yeah, it doesn't feel too bad now," Iginla said. "It was a little sore the next day and stuff. But I just dislocated it and I was fortunate it wasn't broken or anything. So, yeah, everything worked out. I got it looked at it and stuff and I'll be ready to go."

Iginla was injured during a fight with Canucks forward Ryan Kesler in the first period. He returned to play the rest of the game.

Flames coach Bob Hartley said the team sent Michael Cammalleri back to the hotel because he was ill. Lee Stempniak did not skate on a line during the team's practice. Hartley said all lineup decisions will be made at game time.
