DAL@BOS: Red Sox drop the ceremonial first puck

BOSTON - As the highlights played on the video screen above the ice at TD Garden, the cheers swelled.
It got so loud, in fact, that the announcement of the Boston Red Sox was nearly obscured, as Red Sox owner John Henry, president and CEO Sam Kennedy and pitcher Joe Kelly walked out onto the ice, brandishing the Commissioner's Trophy.

The Red Sox were at TD Garden to be honored by the Boston Bruins, after the winning the 2018 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
And the Bruins, some of whom are New England natives who grew up rooting for Boston sports teams, were only too happy to welcome them in.
"That was pretty cool," said defenseman Matt Grzelcyk, who hails from Charlestown. "Obviously pretty inspiring watching their run. It was cool to see, especially Joe Kelly coming out. He kind of had that flair to him all playoffs. He really stepped up for the team. So that was pretty cool to see him and I think seeing that ceremony before the game definitely put us in a good mindset. We didn't really talk about it, but I know personally it fired me up a little bit."
The Bruins boast three New Englanders on the current roster, in Grzelcyk, forward Chris Wagner, from Walpole, and forward Noel Acciari, from Johnston, R.I., plus adopters of the local team like defenseman Torey Krug, who named his dog Fenway.
"That was fun to follow along," Grzelcyk said. "A little bit of bragging rights with the rest of the guys in the room. But I think whether you're from Boston or not, I think the whole team was behind them and wanted them to win. So it was awesome they got the job done."
