NEW YORK - Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron left Monday's game against the New York Rangers after being hit with a slapshot near the right wrist.
Bergeron was heading towards the Rangers' net in the first minute of the second period when he was hit by a shot from Bruins defenceman Dennis Wideman. He had logged 8:17 of ice time when he left the game.
Bergeron was named to Canada's Olympic men's hockey team on Wednesday. He has 11 goals, 20 assists and a plus-4 rating in 40 games with Boston this season.
There was no immediate word on his condition, but he was not expected to return to action Monday.
