boston garden table split

Trent Buhler never made it to Boston Garden, so he brought the Boston Bruins' fabled home to him.

Buhler designed and built an incredible table hockey game that also is a model of the Bruins legendary former arena.
The 52-year-old currently lives in Edmonton and has lived in Saskatchewan and Calgary. But he's a diehard Bruins fan because of Hall of Fame defenseman Bobby Orr, who has been his favorite player since childhood. The Bruins played at The Garden from 1928-95 before moving to TD Garden where they've played since.
"I've always really liked the Bruins, and I've always been a fan of these old buildings - all the Original Six buildings," Buhler told NHL.com. "It's basically my homage to the Garden."
He built the game from wood as a hobby but wanted it to look as authentic as possible. He used a 3D printer

with armrests and printed out old-time ads to mimic those that would appear on the ice and around the arena. He even

so the 1970s Bruins would be playing the rival Montreal Canadiens of that era.

Buhler built three other table hockey games but came up with the idea to do a life-like Boston Garden about 10 years ago. He began work on the six-foot by four-foot game in 2018, after he got a bigger house with a loft for such a project, and it still isn't fully completed yet.
He finished a scoreboard Sunday but still intends to include a roofline and the Garden marquee from the arena front.
It may look like a model, but the

. Buhler has played with his kids every day, and he even made the playing surface life-like.
"It's sort of half a model but the important thing for me was I wanted it to be able to be played," Buhler said. "So I sort of built it in that regard as well. You can't really jam the puck home. You've got to play hockey with it as well. The puck is small enough it'll slip between the guy's legs so you got to actually take a shot."
Buhler has been sharing photos of his progress on
Facebook
and his
Instagram page
, and the incredible detail blew up online in the past week.
He intends to make and sell mini-table hockey games of the Garden and is hoping to make another full-sized classic arena after the Garden is finished.
"I would definitely like to do Maple Leaf Gardens," he said. "I would like to do the (Montreal) Forum. I would like to do Chicago Stadium."
