Bruins beat Abbotsford Heat in a shootout for the second time in two nights @NHLdotcom

ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - The Providence Bruins beat the Abbotsford Heat in a shootout for the second straight night as Yannick Riendeau scored in the sixth round of a 3-2 victory in American Hockey League action Wednesday.

Riendeau put a nifty deke on Heat starter David Shantz and beat him low stick-side.

Abbotsford (31-24-10) opened the scoring nearly three minutes in when David Van Der Gulik one-timed a beautiful feed from Jason Jaffray past Bruins starter Kevin Regan.

Jordan Knackstedt, who scored the shootout winner Tuesday night for the Bruins (31-28-3), played a big factor once again scoring twice in a five-minute span in the second.

Knackstedt tied the score at 1-1 at 13:12 of the second when he put a shot off Heat defenceman Mark Mitera and by Shantz.

Knackstedt then gave the Bruins their first lead of the game when he redirected a beautiful cross-ice feed from Jamie Arniel past Shantz with two minutes to go in the period.

Cam Cunning evened things up at two as he cut to the outside, around a Bruins defenceman, and went high glove-side on Regan.

Starting his second consecutive game, Shantz made 26 saves in for his seventh loss of the season while Regan made 33 saves in the win.
