Brown scores twice to lead the Sting over the Whalers 6-2 @NHLdotcom

PLYMOUTH, Mich. - Tyler J. Brown returned to familiar territory and scored two goals as the Sarnia Sting defeated the host Plymouth Whalers 6-2 on Saturday night in Ontario Hockey League action.

Brown, who played for the Whalers from 2007-2010, was acquired by the Sting from the Kingston Frontenacs at the trade deadline in January.

Julian Luciani, Brett Thompson and Reid Boucher each had a goal and an assist for the Sting (34-27-7), who finish the season fourth in the Western Conference, while Craig Hottot added a single goal.

Connor Murphy chipped in two assists.

Stefan Noesen and Rickard Rakell scored for the Whalers (47-18-3), who had their 10-game winning streak snapped.

JP Anderson finished with 26 saves for the win while Scott Wedgewood turned away 28 shots in a losing effort.

Sarnia went 1 for 4 on the power play as Plymouth went 1 for 2.

With the loss and the London Knights' win over the Erie Otters, Plymouth finishes second in the Western Conference, just two points behind the Knights.
