CALGARY - Brooks Macek recorded his first ever Western Hockey League hat trick and added an assist as the Calgary Hitmen thumped the Brandon Wheat Kings 7-2 in Western Hockey League action Wednesday.
Victor Rask had a goal and two assists for the Hitmen (28-17-3), who have won three straight games and 11 of their past 12. Spencer Humphries, Trevor Cheek and Greg Chase also scored, while Brady Brassart and Cody Sylvester each had a pair of assists.
Alessio Bertaggia and Kevin Sundher scored for the Wheat Kings (24-23-3), who have lost three of their past four games.
Calgary netminder Brandon Glover made 23 saves to record his 15th win of the season.
Corbin Boes started in net for Brandon and stopped 16-of-21 shots he faced before being replaced by Curtis Honey after Calgary?s fifth goal of the game in the second period. Honey made 16 saves in a relief appearance.
The Hitmen went 1-for-2 with the man advantage, while killing off both power-play opportunities awarded to the Wheat Kings.
