KELOWNA, B.C. - Joel Broda scored twice, notching his league-leading 34th and 35th goals of the season, and Travis Hamonic had a three-point night for Moose Jaw as the Warriors defeated the Rockets 5-2 in Western Hockey League action on Saturday night.
Hamonic, Joey Kornelson, and Ryan Stanton also scored for Moose Jaw (14-25-0-1), which won its third game in a row despite having the Eastern Conference's worst record. On Friday, Hamonic had a hat trick and Broda scored twice as the Warriors shelled the Kamloops Blazers 8-4.
A six-foot centre from Prince Albert, Broda now has nine goals in four games. The Warriors are nearing the end of a seven-game road trip that includes five games against B.C. Division teams. Moose Jaw closes out its trip on Tuesday in Prince George, and is 3-1 in B.C. thus far.
Cody Almond and Lucas Bloodoff, both with their 14th goals of the season, replied for Kelowna (23-16-0-0), which surrendered two goals in the first five minutes and trailed 4-1 and 5-2 at the period breaks.
Deven Dubyk made 37 saves for the Warriors. For the Rockets, starter Kris Lazaruk was pulled in the 16th minute after giving up four goals on 10 shots. Adam Brown made 16 saves in relief.
