Flyers center Danny Briere
left Thursday night's 5-1 loss to Calgary due to a lower body injury. General manager Paul Holmgren
spoke with the media about Briere following the game.
Holmgren: "Well right now all that we know is that he tweaked his groin again, and we'll see how it is tomorrow. He's having a little bit of a tough time right now with it; probably as much mentally as physically. I feel bad for him. He's had this issue pretty much most of the season and to come at this point in our season is not good news."
Q: Do you almost feel snake-bitten that it (Briere's injury) happened today and not before yesterday?
PH: "To be honest with you, I've never looked at it that way. Danny is a good player, and we want him in our lineup. That's what stings about it. I feel bad for him."
Q: You mentioned that Danny tweaked his groin. Is this something similar to what he had suffered earlier?
PH: "It's in and around the area that has been the issue."
Q: Do you know when he was injured?
PH: "It was early in the second period. I don't know if he got tied up in a corner. I'm not sure [how]."
