"I hopefully fill whatever role needs to be done. I still expect myself to make a contribution," Boyle said. "I want to make a difference for the team on the ice. That's what we're in the business of doing. Helping the team win is the only objective."
The 34-year-old forward had 24 points (18 goals, six assists) in 73 regular-season games with the Nashville Predators and New Jersey Devils last season. He had two assists in three Stanley Cup Playoff games.
Boyle scored five goals in 26 games after he was acquired by the Predators on Feb. 6 for a second-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft.
Selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the first round (No. 26) of the 2003 NHL Draft, Boyle has 216 points (124 goals, 92 assists) in 766 regular-season games with the Predators, Devils, Toronto Maple Leafs, Tampa Bay Lightning, New York Rangers and Kings. He has 30 points (15 goals, 15 assists) in 114 playoff games.

Forward Henrik Borgstrom, the No. 23 pick in the 2013 NHL Draft, was loaned to Springfield of the American Hockey League.
