Brett Sonne's two goals lead Hitmen to 7-3 win over Broncos

CALGARY - Brett Sonne scored twice and set up another to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a 7-3 win over the Swift Current Broncos in Western Hockey League action on Sunday.

Both Joel Broda and Tomas Karpov scored their first goals for the Hitmen (38-6-1-1) since being acquired in a trade with the Moose Jaw Warriors on Thursday. Broda also had three assists in the game as did linemate Brandon Kozun. Paul Postma, Michael Stone and Ian Shultz each had a goal and an assist, while Carson McMillan had a pair of helpers.

Cody Eakin, Jan Dalecky and Dillon Wagner scored for the Broncos (25-20-0-1), who jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and also led 3-2 in the second before the Hitmen responded with five straight goals. Taylor Vause chipped in with a pair of assists for Swift Current.

Calgary goalie Martin Jones made 20 saves to extend his winning streak to 11 games, while his Swift Current counterpart Morgan Clark stopped 27 of 34 shots at the other end.
