OSHAWA, Ont. - Brett Parnham scored twice and assisted on two others as the Oshawa Generals built a five-goal lead and then held on for a 7-5 win over the Saginaw Spirit in OHL play Monday afternoon.
Chris Chappell's third goal of the game, with 4:26 remaining, brought the Spirit to within one at 6-5, but Jeff Hayes' second of the game for the Generals put the game out of reach about two minutes later.
Defenceman Scott Valentine added a goal and two assists for the Generals. John Padulo and Calvin de Haan scored the others.
Chappell had four points for the Spirit. Jack Combs and Barry Sanderson each scored once.
Neil Conway made 40 saves in goal for the Generals.
Anthony Peters and Edward Pasquale faced 18 shots apiece for the Spirit, Peters allowing four goals and Pasquale three.
Saginaw was 3-for-8 on the power play, Oshawa 2-for-7.
