Brett Leffler's two goals lead Pats to 7-4 victory over Tigers @NHL

Brett Leffler had two goals, including the game winner, to help the Regina Pats beat the Medicine Hat Tigers 7-4 in Western Hockey League action Wednesday night.

Medicine Hat (9-8-4) lost for the fifth time in its last six games, while Regina (7-9-2) won for just the second time in its last six.

The Pats started the scoring midway through the first with two power play goals a minute apart, both from Matt Strueby. Jordan Weal assisted on both goals and now has points in 13 of his last 15 games.

The Tigers responded with two quick goals of their own, one from Taylor Gal and the other from Wacey Hamilton after he worked his way out of the corner and around two Pats before tucking it under Regina goalie Damien Ketlo.

In the second period, former Tiger Cody Carlson put Regina ahead with his first as a Pat after feeds from Weal and Thomas Hricina. Carlson was traded to Regina in early October for a third round bantam pick.

The Pats managed to blow their lead again after getting into penalty trouble near the end of the second, giving Medicine Hat a five on three advantage. Linden Vey took advantage, one-timing a pretty drop pass from Tristan Key.

Regina regained the lead 11 seconds later on Leffler's short-handed goal.

Vey once again evened things up in the third, and Leffler once again answered back. This time, however, the Pats kept the pressure on and added goals from Jordan Eberle and Garrett Mitchell, his first of the year.

Weal picked up his fourth assist on Eberle's goal.
