Brett Howden agreed to a one-year, $885,000 contract with the New York Rangers on Friday.

The 23-year-old forward could have become a restricted free agent July 28.
Howden scored seven points (one goal, six assists) in 42 games with the Rangers this season.
Selected by the Tampa Bay Lightning in first round (No. 27) of the 2016 NHL Draft, Howden has scored 49 points (16 goals, 33 assists) in 178 regular-season games with the Rangers and has no points in three Stanley Cup Playoff games.
