Vancouver Canucks forward Brandon Prust won't play again this season.
In a statement posted on the Canucks' Twitter account, it was announced that a "mutual decision allowing Brandon Prust to shift focus from playing with ankle discomfort the rest of this season to rehab and preparation for next season. Brandon will return to his hometown to rehab under the supervision of Canucks medical staff."
Prust, 32, had been with Utica of the American Hockey League since clearing waivers and being assigned there Feb. 4. He had one goal and seven points in 35 games with the Canucks and one goal and seven points in nine AHL games.
In 486 NHL games with five teams, Prust has 40 goals, 115 points and 1,036 penalty minutes. He can become an unrestricted free agent July 1.
