Brandon Mashinter scores twice as Rangers end skid by downing Petes

PETERBOROUGH, Ont. - Brandon Mashinter scored two goals and added an assist as the Kitchener Rangers stopped an eight-game losing streak with a 6-2 win against the Peterborough Petes in Ontario Hockey League action Thursday.

Chris MacKinnon had a goal and assist for the Rangers (8-9-1-1) , while Jason Akeson added a penalty shot goal and T.J. Battani scored into an empty net. Michael Catenacci also scored.

Justin Larson and Jamie Doornbosch replied for the Petes (9-12-0-1).

Parker Van Buskirk stopped 38 shots for the win. Petes' starter Jason Misiaen gave up four goals on 22 shots while Ryan Daniels surrendered one goal on seven shots in relief.
