CRANBROOK, B.C. - Prince Albert Raiders forward Brandon Herrod had a goal and two assists in a 5-3 win over the Kootenay Ice in Western Hockey League action on Wednesday night.
The Raiders opened the scoring on a power play as they crashed the net on a 3-on-1 break and Jordan Hickmott redirected a pass from Herrod. Herrod made it 2-0 on a short-handed breakaway and scored with a snap shot on the stick side.
The Ice (29-26-2-6) made it 2-1 late in the first period on a power-play as defenceman Ian Barteaux snuck in from the blue-line, found loose puck near the crease and put it over top of scrambling Raiders netminder Garrett Zemlak.
James Dobrolowski made it 3-1 for the Raiders (28-32-4-1) with a long wrist shot that beat unscreened Kootenay goalie Todd Mathews on the glove side.
Dobrolowski got his second of the game on a goal-mouth scramble on the power-play.
Ryan Kowalski scored his first of the season with a wrist shot off a face-off win.
The Ice scored two power-play goals late on deflections from Drew Czerwonka and Max Reinhart.
