TORONTO - Brampton Battalion centre Cody Hodgson was named the Ontario Hockey League player of the month for November on Thursday.
Hodgson, of Markham, Ont., led the league with 13 goals in the month while adding 14 assists for a league-high 27 points in 13 games. He also had a league-best plus-minus rating of plus-15.
The 18-year-old is in his third season with the Battalion and was selected in the first round, 10th overall by the Vancouver Canucks in the 2008 NHL entry draft. Hodgson was recently invited to Canada's national junior team selection camp.
Rookie of the month honours went to Hodgson's teammate Evgeny Grachev. The native of Yaroslavl, Russia, led all OHL rookies in November with 11 goals and nine assists in 13 games.
T.J. Brodie of the Saginaw Spirit was named defenceman of the month after scoring three goals and adding 14 assists in only nine games.
The top goaltender for November was Mike Murphy of the Belleville Bulls. Murphy led the OHL in goals-against average (1.77) and save percentage (.951).
