Braes gets hat trick as Lethbridge thumps Prince George 9-2 @NHLdotcom

PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. - Cam Braes scored a hat trick to lead the Lethbridge Hurricanes to a 9-2 win against the Prince George Cougars on Saturday night in Western Hockey League action.

The Cougars led 2-1 after the first period but the Hurricanes blew the game open in the second by scoring five unanswered goals. Lethbridge added three more in the third.

The Hurricanes, who were winless in their first six games, also dumped the Cougars on Friday night by a score of 5-2.

Carter Ashton added two goals for the Hurricanes on Saturday. Brent Henke, Craig Orfino, Mark Reners and Philip Tot rounded out the scoring for Lethbridge (2-6-0-0). Henke also had three assists.

Alex Rodgers and Tyler Halliday replied for Prince George (2-5-0-0).

The Hurricanes outshot the Cougars 39-23. Lethbridge goaltender Ville Kolppanen picked up his first win of the season and Prince George's Michael Salmon took the loss. He was replaced by James Priestner at the start of the third period.
