Boychuk and Fletcher share AHL player of month honour @NHLdotcom

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Justin Fletcher of the Peoria Rivermen and Johnny Boychuk of the Providence Bruins were named co-winners of the American Hockey League player of the month award Wednesday.

Fletcher had 15 points (3-12) last month while Boychuk had 13 points (5-8).

Hamilton Bulldogs centre Ben Maxwell was named rookie of the month and Jonathan Bernier of the Manchester Monarchs was named goaltender of the month.

The AHL also announced its all-rookie team Wednesday.

Goaltender Nathan Lawson of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers was named to the team along with defencemen Mattias Karlsson of the Binghamton Senators and Yannick Weber of Hamilton. The forwards were Justin Abdelkader of the Grand Rapids Griffins and Nathan Gerbe and Tim Kennedy of the Portland Pirates.
