Bowman scores twice as Chiefs take opening playoff game 5-2 over Silvertips @NHLdotcom

SPOKANE, Wash. - Drayson Bowman scored two power-play goals as the Spokane Chiefs defeated the Everett Silvertips 5-2 in the opening game of the best-of-seven Western Conference quarter-final between the U.S. Division rivals in Western Hockey League playoff action on Friday night.

David Rutherford, Judd Blackwater and Chris Bruton also had goals for Spokane, which was 4 for 8 on the power play.

Jonathan Harty notched a goal and an assist and Matt Ius scored for the Silvertips.

Spokane goalie Dustin Tokarski turned aside 26 of 28 shots, while Everett's Leland Irving allowed four goals and made 15 saves before being replaced by Shayne Barrie early in the second period.

Barrie stopped 24 of 25 shots he faced.

Game Two of the series is Saturday night in Spokane.
