Boudreau's two goals lead balanced attack as Rimouski routs Baie-Comeau 9-0 @NHL

The Rimouski Oceanic spread the wealth Sunday afternoon, while taking advantage of some unexpected generosity from the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

Defenceman Emmanuel Boudreau scored twice and added an assist as the Oceanic trounced the Drakkar 9-0 in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Felix Lefrancois added two goals and an assist and Mathieu Asselin also scored twice for Rimouski (22-13-0-0), which ended a two-game losing streak with its most lopsided win of the season. It was the Oceanic's best offensive performance since a 12-3 drubbing of the Saint John Sea Dogs on Jan. 28, 2007.

Philippe Cornet, Guillaume Pelletier and Luca Cunti added singles for Rimouski, which had 15 different skaters earn at least one point. Sebastien Piche, Gleason Fournier, Jordan Caron, Alexandre Naron and Frank Grzeszczak each chipped in with two assists.

The Oceanic benefited greatly from the Drakkar's unending parade to the penalty box. Rimouski scored five times in 10 power-play opportunities, while adding a short-handed goal in the first period.

In other QMJHL action Sunday, it was: Drummondville 8, Rouyn-Noranda 4; Lewiston 3, Val-d'Or 1; Cape Breton 3, Moncton 0; Victoriaville 3, Gatineau 2 (SO); Montreal 6, Chicoutimi 4; and Saint John 3, P.E.I. 2 (SO).

At Rimouski, Que., Baie-Comeau (9-18-4-2) went scoreless on five man-advantage chances of its own, and was outshot 40-16 in the game.

Rimouski netminder Maxim Gougeon earned his third shutout of the season in the victory. He entered the game with a 3.43 goals-against average in four games against the Drakkar this season.

Baie-Comeau starting netminder Marco Cousineau was yanked after 40 minutes, having allowed six goals on 24 shots. Marek Benda replaced him and made 13 saves.

Voltigeurs 8, Huskies 4

At Drummondville, Que., Dany Masse had two goals and two assists and Mathieu Gingras also scored twice as the Voltigeurs extended their franchise-best win streak to 15 games.

Sean Couturier, Samson Mahbod, Mike Hoffman and Philippe Lefebvre added singles for Drummondville (27-4-0-2).

Pier-Luc Giguere scored twice while Nicolas Deslauriers and Gabriel Levesque also had goals for Rouyn-Noranda (18-11-3-2).


Maineiacs 3, Foreurs 1

At Lewiston, Maine, Maxime Gratchev's hat trick lifted the Maineiacs past Val-d'Or.

Alexander Beaton added a pair of assists for Lewiston (13-22-0-0).

Maxime Sauve had the lone goal for the Foreurs (7-24-1-3).


Screaming Eagles 3, Wildcats 0

At Moncton, N.B., Olivier Roy turned aside 24 shots as Cape Breton blanked the Wildcats.

Robert Slaney had two goals and Philippe Fontaine added a single for the Screaming Eagles (23-11-1-1).

Nicola Riopel made 20 saves in defeat for Moncton (25-3-2-2).


Tigres 3, Olympiques 2 (SO)

At Victoriaville, Que., Andrej Nestrasil's shootout goal led the Tigres past Gatineau.

Kirill Tulupov and Alexandre Labonte scored in regulation for Victoriaville (17-18-0-1).

Paul Byron and Jean-Philip Chabot countered for the Olympiques (14-18-1-2).


Junior 6, Sagueneens 4

At Chicoutimi, Que., Luke Adam had a pair of goals in Montreal's win over the Sagueneens.

Guillaume Asselin, Nick Layton, Toni Ritter and Matthew Brenton also scored for the Junior (18-14-1-0).

Jean-Philippe Foucher, Olivier Ouellet, Nicolas Deschamps and Dominic Jalbert replied for Chicoutimi (13-17-2-2).


Sea Dogs 3, Rocket 2 (SO)

At Charlottetown, Alexei Dostionov scored in a shootout to lead Saint John past the Rocket.

Dostionov and Joshua Schram had regulation goals for the Sea Dogs (19-15-2-1).

Benjamin Casavant and Brandon Street scored for P.E.I. (12-16-3-5).
