Bruins team scope

The Boston Bruins made their fourth goalie transaction in the past week Wednesday, recalling Zane McIntyre from Providence of the American Hockey League. McIntyre is 0-3-1 with a 3.95 goals-against average and .860 save percentage in seven games with the Bruins this season. Starter Tuukka Rask made 18 saves in a 4-3 win at the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday. "To be honest I felt like our will got better in the second and third," coach Claude Julien said of Boston's third consecutive win. "Our power play has been good lately. We're still in the middle of the pack because of our start but our special teams played a big role in this win." The Bruins did not have a morning skate, so it's not known whether Rask will start in back-to-back games.

Capitals team scope

Braden Holtby will start in goal for the Washington Capitals, who will try to extend their home winning streak to eight games. Washington is 19-5-1 at home this season and has not lost in regulation at Verizon Center since Dec. 17. Holtby is 10-2-0 against the Bruins during his NHL career with three shutouts, a 1.69 goals-against average and a .950 save percentage; he is 8-0-0 with 14 goals allowed and three shutouts in his past nine starts. Backup Philipp Grubauer made 26 saves in a 3-2 loss at the New York Islanders on Tuesday. Forward Evgeny Kuznetsov was named the NHL First Star for January after scoring seven goals and 20 points in 15 games. "It's more about the team game," Kuznetsov said. "We all played great. Sometimes you get some points, some goals but that's work from all five guys on the ice. Of course that means a lot for my parents and my family. It's all about the team game and we all played great."
