Boston Bruins sign free-agent centre Glen Metropolit to contract @NHLdotcom

BOSTON - Glen Metropolit is staying with the Boston Bruins.

The NHL team announced Wednesday that it had signed the free-agent centre to a contract. Metropolit had been with the Bruins during training camp on a tryout.

Metropolit had 14 goals and 33 points in 77 games last season with Atlanta and St. Louis. The 33-year-old first entered the NHL with Washington in 1999 and later spent three seasons in Europe.

In 180 career NHL games, Metropolit has 24 goals, 56 assists and 80 points.

Boston opens its season on Friday in Dallas.
