BOS-OTT-12-30

OTTAWA-- Tuukka Rask made 25 saves for his second shutout of the season, and Ryan Spooner had two goals and an assist for the Boston Bruins in a 5-0 win against the Ottawa Senators at Canadian Tire Centre on Saturday.

Rask is 10-0-1 in his past 11 games and has allowed three goals in his past four.
"We're playing as a team," said Rask, whose shutout was his 40th in the NHL. "That's the biggest thing. It's very happy to see. We took over the game. Their chances came early, that's it. We scored more and we always played the same way. That's great to see. Going ahead, that has to continue because it's going to reward us in the future."

David Krejci had a goal and an assist in his first game back after missing six with an upper-body injury. Noel Acciari and Patrice Bergeron scored for the Bruins (21-10-6), who have a point in eight consecutive games (6-0-2).

"It maybe looked easy if you looked at the scoreboard, but we had to play the right way from the first minute and we did that," Krejci said.
Mike Condon made 29 saves for the Senators (12-17-8), who lost for the 17th time in their past 21 games (4-14-3).
"It starts at the top," Ottawa forward Mark Stone said. "Our best players haven't been our best players. There's a trickle-down effect. When guys see the top players cheating, they do too.
"I don't think it's work ethic. It's a little bit of stupidity more than anything, stupidity and frustration. We put ourselves in terrible spots."
Acciari, Spooner and Krejci scored in the second period to make it 4-0.
"It's a really good team this year," Krejci said. "The last couple of weeks I watched from up top. The guys have been playing really well. I'm glad I'm back with the team and I'm really happy we got two points tonight. We have lots of young players and they're fitting in pretty nicely, playing some big minutes and scoring some important goals. It's good to have this balance we have right now."

Krejci played 16:42 and scored his sixth goal of the season.
"I thought he was very good, lots of pace, good composure, dancing through the neutral zone, making plays, so it was nice to have him back and healthy," Boston coach Bruce Cassidy said. "Let's hope it stays that way. He's had his fair share of tough luck this year, and hopefully he can stay healthy because he makes us a better team."
The Bruins went 3-for-4 on the power play. Spooner scored to make it 1-0 with the man-advantage at 8:13 of the first period on a rebound of a shot by Krejci that was tipped to him by David Backes.
Acciari scored on a backhand at 3:29 of the second period to make it 2-0, and Spooner scored on a breakaway at 5:38 to make it 3-0.
Krejci scored a power-play goal from beside the left post at 13:39 of the second period, and Bergeron scored one on a tip at 1:11 of the third.
"There's not much to say. They were the better team from start to finish," Senators captain Erik Karlsson said. "They did a lot of good things and we didn't do a good job eliminating the things they did well. We gave them a little bit too much. Overall, they were the better team."

They said it

"It's nice to have to know that for some guys it might not go their way for a bit for whatever reason and you're still going to win games and be able to win games scoring goals, not just maybe 1-0, 2-1. It's a nice thing every team would like to have." -- Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy
"We've put ourselves in a hole where we are going to need a fantastic run and we're going to need help. We've put ourselves in a deep, deep hole." -- Senators forward Mark Stone
