Kaprizov scores twice in the 1st in 4-2 win

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Kirill Kaprizov scored twice for the Minnesota Wild in a 4-2 win against the Boston Bruins at Xcel Energy Center on Wednesday.

Ryan Hartman had a goal and an assist, and Jared Spurgeon had two assists for Minnesota (35-20-4), which had lost two in a row. Cam Talbot made 24 saves and won his fourth straight start.
"We defended in our zone really well," Talbot said. "Anytime there's a secondary opportunity, we're there to clear them out. And on the other side, we're getting pucks through, we weren't getting blocked tonight, we had traffic at their net, and we're able to pounce on some of those rebounds. And obviously, we've got a big goal there in the third by doing just that. So, just kind of got back to our recipe for success and it worked for us."
Jordan Greenway put Minnesota ahead 3-2 at 7:56 of the third period on a rebound with traffic in front.

Kaprizov scores twice in the 1st in 4-2 win

Craig Smith and Brad Marchand scored for Boston (37-19-5), which had won three in a row, including 2-1 at the Chicago Blackhawks in overtime Tuesday. Jeremy Swayman made 30 saves and had an eight-game winning streak and 10-game point streak (9-0-1) end.
"You wish you'd come out with two points, but there's plenty more of those games down the road," Bruins forward Charlie Coyle said. "… It's a tough team [to] play against [on] a back-to-back and they came hard. You can definitely feel that, but … the response is there. We battled back."
The Bruins were without center Patrice Bergeron because of an upper-body injury. He will not play at the Winnipeg Jets on Friday.
"You can't replace him, but I thought [Tomas] Nosek did a good job in the face-off circle for sure," Boston coach Bruce Cassidy said after Nosek won 12 of 16 face-offs. "We won some draws, won one with the goalie out 6-on-5, that's one we rely on 'Bergy' for.
Kaprizov put the Wild ahead 1-0 on the power play at 6:55 of the first period with a wrist shot through traffic. He increased the lead to 2-0 on a breakaway at 14:28 after a stretch pass up the middle from Mats Zuccarello.
It was Kaprizov's sixth multigoal game this season.

BOS@MIN: Kaprizov scores his 2nd goal in 1st period

Smith cut it to 2-1 at 16:59 on a rebound in front.
Marchand it 2-2 at 1:49 of the second period with a power-play goal from the top of the slot. It was his first goal in 10 games since scoring twice against the San Jose Sharks on Feb. 26.
"It's nice to get one, especially with 'Bergy' being out," Marchand said. "That point of the game, it was nice, but unfortunately we didn't close it out and that's all that matters at the end of the day is if you get the points."
The Wild had a 26-24 edge in hits. Minnesota defenseman Matt Dumba had a game-high six.
"It was intense, a very intense hockey game," Wild coach Dean Evason said. "Lots of chirping. But lots of physicality. There were some big, big hits in that hockey game and we talk all the time about playoff hockey. That was playoff hockey."
Hartman made it 4-2 when he scored into an empty net with five seconds remaining.
"We've just got to focus on what allowed us to eventually come out with a win tonight," Greenway said. "… We've just got to stick to the game plan, keep it simple, stay patient, and find a way to bring that energy every night. It's not easy to do, especially as the regular season comes to the end here. But we've got to continue to stay strong, find the energy, and build off it."
NOTES: Tyson Jost had three hits and played 10:36 in his first game with the Wild. The forward was acquired from the Colorado Avalanche in a trade for forward Nico Sturm on Tuesday. … Zuccarello's assist gave him 61 points (19 goals, 42 assists) in 51 games this season, tying his NHL career high set in 2015-16 in 81 games for the New York Rangers. … Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk played 16:33 in his 300th NHL game.
