Larkin, Chiasson lead Red Wings to 5-3 win

DETROIT --Dylan Larkin had a goal and two assists for the Detroit Red Wings, who held off the Boston Bruins for a 5-3 win at Little Caesars Arena on Sunday.

The win came one day after the Red Wings blew a 2-0 lead in a 3-2 loss to the Bruins at TD Garden on Saturday.
"This was a huge test and a huge opportunity for us," Larkin said. "We had back-to-back games against a team that's on a record pace, and we played two great games."
Moritz Seider had a goal and an assist, Lucas Raymond had two assists, and Ville Husso made 30 saves for the Red Wings (30-27-9), who are seven points behind the New York Islanders, who have played two more games, for the second wild card into the Stanley Cup Playoffs from the Eastern Conference.
"I'm really proud of how we never backed down against a team that could be remembered as one of the best in League history," Detroit coach Derek Lalonde said. "We were competitive for six periods, and I'm glad we got rewarded with a win today."

David Pastrnak and Matt Grzelcyk each had a goal and an assist, and Pavel Zacha had two assists for the Bruins (50-10-5), who have lost two of three. Jeremy Swayman made 21 saves.
Boston remained 17 points ahead of the Toronto Maple Leafs for first in the Atlantic Division.
"I think Detroit outskated us and outworked us," Bruins coach Jim Montgomery said. "I didn't think we had the compete level to win one-on-one puck battles in the first two periods."
Alex Chiasson gave the Red Wings a 1-0 lead at 12:22 of the first period, tapping in a rebound for a power-play goal.
Seider made it 2-0 at 6:34 of the second period with a short-handed goal. He stole the puck from Pastrnak at the blue line before skating in and scoring with a backhand on a breakaway.
"In our system, I'm pressuring the entry, and I saw I had a chance to force something there," Seider said. "I had some pressure on my forehand side, so I went backhand. Luckily, I got it over his glove, because that's not a shot I practice every day."

Larkin pushed it to 3-0 with another power-play goal at 10:39, and Adam Erne made it 4-0 at 15:08 when he knocked in the rebound after Jonatan Berggren's shot hit the crossbar.
Grzelcyk made it 4-1 at 16:52, scoring from the right circle off a cross-ice pass from Pastrnak.
Jake DeBrusk scored his 20th of the season on a breakaway to cut it to 4-2 at 3:37 of the third period
Pastrnak then made it 4-3 at 6:24 from the high slot shortly after Larkin hit the post on a breakaway,

However, Andrew Copp scored an empty-net goal for the 5-3 final at 19:36.
"We aren't the kind of team that is ever going to collapse in a spot like that," Grzelcyk said. "I knew we would fight back, but it was a little too late."
