Seguin nets pair of goals, adds assist in win

DALLAS -- Tyler Seguin had two goals and an assist for the Dallas Stars in a 6-1 win against the Boston Bruins at American Airlines Center on Sunday.

Roope Hintz scored his 20th goal of the season, and Jake Oettinger made 25 saves for the Stars (23-17-2), who have won five of their past six games.
"They've been one of the best teams in the League for the last 10 years," Oettinger said of the Bruins. "It's always a good challenge, and I just want to show that I can be counted on in big games against those top teams. Whenever your team can put up goal support like that for you, it's huge. You just need a couple of key saves and the guys are going to do the rest."
Linus Ullmark allowed four goals on 15 shots for the Bruins (25-14-3) before he was pulled in the second period. Jeremy Swayman made 12 saves in relief.
"You've got to execute at an NHL level, especially against good teams," Boston coach Bruce Cassidy said. "They're really pushing it. We didn't do enough of that tonight. On the offensive side of it, we didn't do it either. The forward group, getting pucks behind them early to establish a forecheck, I thought we were stubborn that way.
"You put those two things together against a good hockey club that defends well, and it was going to be an uphill battle. We didn't figure it out."
Seguin drove the net and tipped in a shot that deflected off Bruins defenseman Urho Vaakanainen to give the Stars a 1-0 lead at 6:54 of the first period.

Alexander Radulov scored his second goal of the season in his 36th game on a breakaway at 15:23 to make it 2-0. He had not scored since Oct. 27 (28 games).
"It's always great to score," Radulov said. "Even though it was a while I couldn't score, I always keep pushing, try to do little things right for the team, for the [benefit] for the team. I knew at some point, it's going to turn on and go my way. Hopefully I'm going to grab it and keep going."
Luke Glendening redirected Miro Heiskanen's shot from the half wall to make it 3-0 at 6:31 of the second period, and Jamie Benn scored 1:08 later to give the Stars a 4-0 lead at 7:39.
Ullmark was pulled following Benn's goal.
"We didn't do enough in front of him," Cassidy said. "I thought our goaltending wasn't the problem tonight at all. There's just too many easy opportunities for them."
Hintz made it 5-0 on the power play at 4:55 of the third period off a pass from John Klingberg.

Craig Smith ended Oettinger's shutout 54 seconds later to cut it to 5-1 at 5:49.
Seguin scored his second of the game off a cross-ice pass from Denis Gurianov at 18:53 for the 6-1 final.
"That was probably the best game we've played all year, both ends of the ice," Dallas coach Rick Bowness said. "Power play got a big goal, and we killed a penalty. That's what we need, we need the contributions from the other lines. [Seguin's] line (with Benn and Gurianov) stepped up big tonight, [Glendening] got a big goal for us, [Radulov]. That's what we need. We need some more offense spread out throughout the team."
NOTES: Hintz has five goals in his past six games. … Bruins forward Erik Haula was placed in NHL COVID-19 protocol before the game. Forward Steven Fogarty was recalled from the taxi squad and was minus-2 in 12:54 of ice time.
