Boston Bruins defenseman Adam McQuaid broke his right fibula against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday and is expected to miss eight weeks.
McQuaid, 31, was injured blocking a shot by Canucks defenseman Ben Hutton in the third period of the Bruins' 6-3 victory at TD Garden. He is scheduled to have surgery on Monday.
McQuaid has one assist in six games this season. A second-round pick (No. 55) of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2005 NHL Draft, he has 63 points (12 goals, 51 assists) in 430 League games in nine seasons, all with the Bruins.
