CALGARY - Kyle Bortis recorded a hat trick and added an assist to lead the Calgary Hitmen to a convincing 7-3 win over the Prince Albert Raiders in Western Hockey League action Wednesday night.
Brandon Kozun had a goal and an assist for the Hitmen (21-8-1-2), T.J. Galiardi set up four goals and Paul Postma chipped in with three assists. Defencemen Dan Mercer and Alex Plante, who have missed most of the season so far due to injuries, each notched their first goals of the campaign.
Ian Duval rounded out the Calgary scoring attack with a third-period goal.
Devon LeBlanc, Ryan McDonald and Matt Robertson scored for the Raiders (10-18-3-1), who lost their fifth straight game. Ryan DePape had a pair of assists.
Calgary netminder Dan Spence made 18 saves to record the win. Prince Albert starting goalie Steven Stanford stopped 20 of the 26 shots he faced before he was pulled in favour of Dustin Butler, who made 17 saves in a relief appearance.
