RALEIGH, N.C. -- The St. Louis Blues will be without forwards Patrik Berglund and Jori Lehtera when they face the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday at PNC Arena.

Berglund and Lehtera sustained upper-body injuries Thursday in a 5-4 shootout win against the Nashville Predators.

The Blues recalled forward Ty Rattie from the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. Rattie, who has 17 goals and 28 points for the Wolves, played in the AHL All-Star Game. He played in two games for St. Louis last season.

The Blues, who have points in nine straight games (8-0-1), overcame a two-goal deficit against the Predators. Eleven players each recorded one point.

The Hurricanes will try to continue their best month of the season. Carolina's 0-6-2 start to the season is a distant memory now, as the Hurricanes have put together a 7-2-1 record in January.

"The thing that hasn't deviated is their work ethic," coach Bill Peters said. "It was good early when we didn't get the results, but it's continued to be good."

The Hurricanes continue to ride the chemistry between brothers Eric Staal and Jordan Staal, who have played on the same line all month after Jordan missed the first 35 games with a broken leg.

The Blues defeated Carolina 5-4 in a shootout on Jan. 10.

"We expect them to be a little more prepared for us," Jordan Staal said. "They're a strong team that plays heavy hockey. They're a good test for us. We want to keep showing we can beat those types of teams."

Status report: After traveling from St. Louis last night, the Blues did not have a morning skate. … Tlusty, who fell hard into the boards against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday, is not 100 percent, but he took the morning skate and will play against the Blues. … Peters will go with the same lineup for the fourth game in a row, a nod to the Hurricanes' three-game winning streak. He expects to use his healthy extras on Saturday against the New York Rangers, meaning Semin, Nestrasil and Liles could return to the lineup with Ward getting the start in goal.

Who's hot: Backes has seven goals and 15 points in the past 12 games. … Eric Staal has nine goals in the past 12 games. … Jordan Staal has four assists in his past two games. … Khudobin is 6-0-0 with a 1.37 goals-against average and a .947 save percentage in his past seven appearances.
