Blues fans celebrate series win via Twitter

Running back Ezekiel Elliott may have been drafted by the Dallas Cowboys, but he remains loyal to his hometown St. Louis Blues.
The former Ohio State University standout, who was drafted by the Cowboys two weeks ago, was one of many celebrities to congratulate the Blues after they defeated the Dallas Stars 6-1 in Game 7 of the Western Conference Second Round on Wednesday.

Some Dallas sports fans, as expected, were disappointed to see the Cowboys' prized NFL prospect support the Stars' Central Division opponent on Twitter.
Elliott was surprised fans would expect him to stop rooting for his favorite NHL team. He then praised Blues goalie Brian Elliott, who shares his surname.

Hockey Hall of Fame goalie Grant Fuhr, who played for the Blues from 1995-99, was impressed to see St. Louis score three goals in the first period to set the tone in the do-or-die Game 7.

When the NFL's Rams moved from St. Louis to Los Angeles earlier this year, the bond between the remaining major local sports franchises, the Blues and Cardinals, became stronger than ever.

Kyle McClellan, a retired MLB pitcher who played for the Cardinals from 2008-12 and was born and raised in Missouri, showed off his Blues pride after their series-clinching victory.

The Blues advanced to the Western Conference Final, where they will face the winner of the series between the San Jose Sharks and Nashville Predators. The mayor of St. Louis, Francis G. Slay, was thrilled to see his city's hockey team break through.

Comedian Kathleen Madigan was as shocked as anyone to see the Blues win for the third time in four postseason games in Dallas.

And Andy Cohen, a television host for Bravo network, kept his celebratory tweet short and sweet -- with plenty of exclamation points.
