NYI@STL: Bouwmeester receives ovation in St. Louis

The loudest ovation of the night at Enterprise Center on Thursday came during a stoppage of play.

St. Louis Blues defenseman Jay Bouwmeester was back in front of the home crowd for the first time since a
cardiac episode led to him collapsing on the bench
during a game against the Anaheim Ducks on February 11.
When Bouwmeester was announced to the crowd, fans in attendance gave him a prolonged standing ovation.
Bouwmeester has
since had surgery
to restore his heart's normal rhythm. He has been
ruled out for the remainder of the regular season and playoffs
and has not yet decided if he will play hockey again.
The veteran of 18 NHL seasons
held a press conference on Wednesday
and said he felt, "pretty good."
Bouwmeester called the outpouring from those around the League "overwhelming" and "humbling."
During the Blues' 3-2 win against the Islanders, the home town fans got to join in showing their support.
