Blue Jackets use special teams to top Blues

The Columbus Blue Jackets scored three power-play goals and once shorthanded before holding on to defeat the St. Louis Blues 5-4 in a preseason game at Scottrade Center.

First-period goals by Mark Letestu, Jared Boll, Ryan Craig and Fedor Tyutin, the last three on the power play, gave Columbus a 4-0 lead. A second-period shorthanded goal by Dana Tyrell made it 5-1.

Vladimir Tarasenko scored twice in the third period for St. Louis. Joakim Lindstrom and David Backes each had a goal, and Brian Elliott made 17 saves.

Curtis McElhinney (23 saves) and Anton Forsberg (seven saves) each allowed two goals for Columbus.
