COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -The Columbus Blue Jackets re-signed goaltender Fredrik Norrena to a multiyear contract on Sunday, keeping a Finnish rookie who has played a large role in the team's fortunes this season.
Norrena has appeared in 33 games with Columbus and has a 14-13-2 record with a 2.95 goals-against average and two shutouts. He set the franchise record for longest shutout streak when he went 155 minutes and 28 seconds without allowing a goal from Nov. 25 to Dec. 9. That span included back-to-back shutouts at Edmonton on Dec. 2 and Colorado on Dec. 5. Norrena, 33, was Tampa Bay's eighth pick in the 2002 draft and spent 13 seasons in the Finnish and Swedish leagues before making his North American debut this season.
