Prospect Report: Angle, Gerbe make the highlight reels

It was a week for sick mitts among those affiliated with the Blue Jackets.
Everyone remembers Sonny Milano's audacious between-the-legs tally last week vs. Dallas, but he was far from the only member of the organization to show his talents with ridiculous tallies.
Team draftee Tyler Angle put in a copycat move of Milano's while playing for the Windsor Spitfires of the OHL, while Cleveland Monsters center Nathan Gerbe had one of the AHL's moves of the week with a shootout goal over the weekend.

Angle followed in the footsteps of Milano with on Friday night while playing for the Spits against fellow CBJ draft pick Liam Foudy and London. Angle had a breakaway with his team nursing a 3-2 lead late against the Knights and Angle made the highlight reels by pulling the puck between his legs and scoring.

Gerbe, meanwhile, put a perfect capper on a game in which he had three assists Friday for the Monsters with a shootout tally that turned heads across the league. The 32-year-old center made a couple of sick dekes before flipping a shot past the goalie to earn the Monsters the shootout victory.

The Blue Jackets' top farm team played three games in three days over the weekend, earning that shootout win over Rochester before taking a loss and a shootout loss against unbeaten Toronto.
The Monsters got only 20 shots on goal Friday night but still earned the 4-3 victory over the Amerks. Stefan Matteau scored twice and Kevin Stenlund got on the board for the first time this year, while Gerbe assisted on all three tallies before his shootout goal. In net, Matiss Kivlenieks made 28 saves then denied all three shootout attempts by Rochester to preserve the win.
Saturday, the team bused north of the border and took a 2-0 loss to Toronto. Veini Vehvilainen stopped 24 shots but Cleveland just couldn't get the attack going, with Kasimir Kaskisuo stopped all 30 Monsters shots.
It was a much different game Saturday as the teams skated to a 5-5 draw before Toronto won the shootout to take the extra point. Justin Scott had two goals while Sam Vigneault, Zac Dalpe and Kole Sherwood also tallied. Gerbe and Andrew Peeke had two assists, while Kivlenieks stopped 25 shots. Markus Hannikainen scored in a six-round shootout.
Cleveland is now 3-3-0-1 and in fourth place in the North Division. Dalpe, Matteau and Sherwood each have three goals on the year to tie for the team lead, while Gerbe's six assists and points lead the squad. Kivlenieks has posted a 2.89 GAA with a .895 save percentage, while Vehvilainen is at 3.04/.904.

Angle, Foudy meet

The matchup between Angle and Foudy marked the second team Angle matched up with a fellow Blue Jackets draft pick this season, and it was also the second time that both players scored.
Angle actually had a pair of goals in the 4-2 victory for the Spitfires, while Foudy made his season debut for the Knights after missing the first couple weeks with an upper-body injury suffered in the preseason. He tallied early in the third period, though he'd later watch his brother Jean-Luc score the game-winning goal for the Spitfires.

Angle kept up his scorching start to the season with Windsor, as the 2019 seventh-round pick now has nine goals and 14 points in 11 games. Foudy and the Knights went on to face Kingston on Saturday, and the CBJ's first-round pick in 2018 made it two goals in two games in their 6-3 victory.
Also, 2019 fourth-round pick Eric Hjorth has continued his strong start with Sarnia, as the defenseman now has a 3-7-10 line in 10 games for the Sting.

Prospect Notes

• Robbie Stucker, a 2017 seventh-round pick, thought he'd scored his first career goal Friday night for Minnesota in the Golden Gophers' 3-2 win over Niagara. Instead, it was ruled the sophomore defenseman's shot was tipped, so he had to settle for the assist, the fourth of his career.
• 2018 third-round pick Marcus Karlberg has qualified for another Swedish junior national team. Karlberg has been named to the team that will take part in the upcoming Finnair U-20 Four Nations Tournament during early November in Finland.
