Blue Jackets' Dubinsky out after abdominal surgery @NHLdotcom

Columbus Blue Jackets forward Brandon Dubinsky had abdominal surgery in Philadelphia on Wednesday and is expected to miss approximately six weeks, according to the Blue Jackets.

Dubinsky had 16 goals, a career-high 34 assists and was third on the Blue Jackets with 50 points last season. He led Columbus in faceoff winning percentage (52.9 percent) and penalty minutes (98), and was second in hits.

"It's disappointing for him because he really was invested," coach Todd Richards said. "I think it's one of those things that maybe he tweaked something or some of it might have been preexisting, but it just led to this."

Dubinsky signed a six-year contract worth a reported $35.1 million in July. Dubinsky was acquired in the July 2012 trade that sent Rick Nash to the New York Rangers.
