Blue Jackets assign goaltender Popperle to Syracuse in the AHL @NHLdotcom

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -The Blue Jackets assigned goaltender Tomas Popperle to the club's top minor league team, the Syracuse Crunch of the AHL, on Friday.

Popperle was taken in the 2005 draft and appeared in two games for Columbus last season.

He was 25-19-4 last season with Syracuse, allowing 2.86 goals per game.

The move reduces Columbus' roster to 33 players.
