EDMONTON, AB - Oilers alumni Mark Messier will have his name immortalized on Canada's Walk of Fame with his own star later this year after being announced as a 2019 inductee on Friday.
The former Oilers captain joins esteemed company alongside six-time Olympic long track speed skating medallist Cindy Klassen as an inductee in the Sports and Athletics category, along with physical educator and innovator Dr. James Naismith who invented the sport of basketball in the Science, Technology and Innovation category.

The former Oilers captain won five Stanley Cups with the club and amassed 1,887 points in 1,756 career NHL games over a 25-year career with the Oilers, Rangers, and Canucks
